Below, Barton Chiropractic Clinic goes over a few low impact workout ideas that will help your body recover from the day-to-day grind.

Walking

Swimming

Chiropractic for Weight Lifters and Bodybuilders

By Barton Chiropractic Clinic | July 22, 2020

Did you know that chiropractic adjustments give certain benefits to extreme athletes like bodybuilders and weight lifters? Plenty of strongmen (and strongwomen for that matter) have close relationships with their local chiropractors and you should, too.

When you get into the gym your body undergoes a ton of strain and tension and you sculpt your body into what you want it to be. For every hour you spend lifting weights, it’s a good idea to counteract this with a session with your local chiropractor, especially as we begin to correct subluxation and enhance your posture, which will make you more effective in the weight room.

As you begin to increase the weight with powerlifting, it’s important to double down on your active recovery routine, which should include yoga and chiropractic treatment.

Chiropractic treatment will help correct your spine, which will help your body and mind communicate more effectively, help you sleep more regularly, and improve your GI functionality.

If you have any questions about how our treatments can help athletes in particular, contact Barton Chiropractic Clinic today to learn more.

Chiropractic for Drug-Free Joint Pain Relief

By Barton Chiropractic Clinic | July 20, 2020

Only those who pursue chiropractic as a drug-free holistic wellness service know about the untold benefits that chiropractic treatment brings to each and every patient who sees us at Barton Chiropractic Clinic. And your daily grind is probably the culprit for your joint pain. Overuse and repetitive movement can result in joint pain, not to mention over-training and under-recovering.

Inflammation is closely related to pain centers in the body. Chiropractic treatment can help improve the function of any affected joint as well as the nervous system at large.

Revising Your Summer Wellness Goals

By Barton Chiropractic Clinic | July 15, 2020

It might be true that you may have set some lofty summer wellness goals at the beginning of the year when everyone was busy filling out those New Year’s Resolutions for the year.

With COVID-19 hitting us like a ton of bricks, it’s likely that we simply will not be given the opportunity to rise for any occasion our goals inherently set out for us. For instance, many of us might have wanted to run a marathon this summer. However, all marathons have been canceled due to social distancing restrictions.

Below, Barton Chiropractic Clinic goes over a few ways to revise those old goals and fit them for the world we’re currently living in.

First, if you planned to run a marathon, you can still cover that same amount of distance in a day. Simply map out a trail that will give you the 26.2188 miles you need to constitute a marathon. We guarantee you’ll still feel accomplished!

Incorporate the outdoors into your wellness goals. Try to go paddleboarding more than a few times. Take a yoga class online and hold yourself to completing 30 sessions in 30 days, if those sorts of resources are available to you.

Take this time where we’re all a little isolated to get right in your mind. Build a meditation practice that has you giving 10 minutes each day to the exercise and discipline of mindfulness!

If you’d like to learn how chiropractic treatment can help you achieve your health and wellness goals this summer, contact Barton Chiropractic Clinic today to learn more.

Keeping Your Immune System Strong in the Summertime

By Barton Chiropractic Clinic | July 9, 2020

Even though in some cities COVID-19 restrictions are easing up, it’s still important for each of us to perform our due diligence,  and one part of that is staying healthy and away from hospitals, which are becoming more and more crowded with new cases.

Below, Barton Chiropractic Clinic goes over a few ways to keep your immune system healthy and functional during the summer months.

First, get plenty of sleep. Make sure you hydrate properly and eat clean, whole foods. Foods high in sugar, fast foods, and sugar-rich beverages should all be avoided, since they mess with your digestive system, bog down your body, and cause inflammation. Your immune system gets confused by all of this information.

Get plenty of restful sleep. 7-9 hours each 24-hour cycle — no exceptions. Anything less and you’re rolling the dice with your wellness in numerous ways, including plummeting your immune system.

Exercise regularly, which will help you get better sleep, improve your mood, and make sure your body is running at something closer to optimum capacity.

Chiropractic treatment is a great way to ensure your body and brain perform their best, not to mention give your immune system a serious boost. Contact Barton Chiropractic today to learn more about who we are and what we do.

July 4th Recovery Tips

By Barton Chiropractic Clinic | July 6, 2020

If you’re feeling the burn after July fourth festivities, you’re not alone. Many of us might have eaten things we shouldn’t have (and in larger portions than we should have). Many of us might have loafed around, too. Even those of us who managed to get after it for the fourth of July might be feeling a little sluggish and/or sore.

Below, Barton Chiropractic Clinic goes over a few tips for recovering like a boss after the holiday weekend.

Re-Hydrate

If you were outside on a nature hike or even if you had a few too many adult beverages, it’s a good idea to rehydrate your body. Drink at least half your body weight in ounces of water and watch yourself start to turn a new leaf!

Stretch it Out

If you went hiking, went on a road trip, or even did nothing all weekend but sit on the comfy couch, you’re body is likely screaming for a good stretch. Do some yoga poses and take an hour or so to give your body the TLC it needs to feel great.

Problems with the Standard American Diet

By Barton Chiropractic Clinic | June 22, 2020

There’s a reason the acronym for the Standard American Diet is “SAD.” Many of the western diet staples include junk food, lots of red meat or processed meat, candies and sweets, processed carbs, soda, high-fat dairy products as well as foods laced with high fructose corn syrup.

The Standard American Diet is a big reason why America has a serious obesity problem. If your diet largely consists of junk, it’s time to rethink about what you’re putting in your body day in, day out.

First, make sure that you’re replacing sugary drinks and sodas with water. Drink half your body weight in ounces of water to make sure your body and brain function properly.

Eat plenty of clean, whole foods. Shop on the periphery aisles of the grocery store, where you can find fresh fruits and vegetables. Avoid packaged and frozen foods. You can make an exception and purchase frozen veggies if you’re needing those in order to make quick veggie smoothies on the go. Yum!

When you’re out and about if the option is to eat junk food or wait until you get home to eat something better for you, then simply wait. Stop eating just for the sake of filling up on… something. Processed foods and foods high in sugar and complex carbohydrates bogs your digestive system down and causes serious inflammation, which can lead to all sorts of health problems.

Make sure that you also have your last meal at least 2 hours before you go to sleep, that way you can sleep more soundly, since your body won’t have to worry about digesting a meal you’ve just consumed.

Chiropractic treatment is a great way to compliment your new healthy journey as you deviate from the SAD diet. You’ll be surprised by how happy you’ll start to feel… pretty much right away! Contact Barton Chiropractic Today to learn more about how our treatments keep families happy and healthy.
